How do I upgrade my Trend Micro Internet Security so that it would be compatible with Windows 7?

Problem:I have an unexpired license for Trend Micro Internet Security and I want to avail of the free upgrade to Trend Micro Internet Security 2010.

Important: The upgrade is only free if your license is current. If it has expired, you will need to renew it before upgrading.

Solution:

You can install Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 over the 2008 or 2009 version without uninstalling the older program.

1.     Before installing Trend Micro Internet Security 2010, make sure your computer meets the program’s http://support.antivirus.co.uk/trendmicro/kbresolution.jsp?hmid=49640&serviceId=11 otherwise, you may not be able to run or install the software properly.

2.     Download Trend Micro Internet Security 2010. Do the following:

a.     Close all programs.

b.    Download the installer file by clicking

       http://uk.trendmicro.com/uk/downloads/home-and-homeoffice/        

c.     When the File Download window appears, click Save.

d.    On the Save As window, select Desktop on the left pane as the location in which you want to save you file, then click Save    

3.     Install Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 on your system.

a.     Run the installer file. Do either of the following:

•         On the Download Complete window, click Run.

b.    Go to your desktop and click on the installer file. This will be either http://uk.trendmicro.com/uk/downloads/home-and-homeoffice/

Wait while the installer unpacks the file’s contents.       

c.     When the installer detects your old Trend Micro program and asks if you want to upgrade to the latest version, click Yes.

d.    Read the License Agreement when it opens up, then select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.

e.     When prompted, type in your serial number and click Next.

f.     On the Install Options window, select Regular Installation (recommended) to install the program using the recommended settings.

g.    Click Next.

h.     Wait for the installer to finish uninstalling the older version of Trend Micro Internet Security.

i.      When the removal is complete and you are prompted to restart your computer, click Restart Now.

j.      After your computer has restarted, wait while the installer activates the various modules for Trend Micro Internet Security 2010.

k.     When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to activate your subscription. Click on Activate Now.

l.      Enter your registration information and click on Next.

m.   Click on Finish once the protection is activated.
